1) Who We Are

Deuce ("Deuce," "we," "us," or "our") provides a mobile application (the "App") that helps users discover tennis courts, connect with other players, organize games, and participate in local communities.

This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use the App.

2) Information We Collect

A. Information You Provide

Account & Profile

• Email, first name, last name
• Profile photo (image URL)
• Skill level, sports preferences, availability, fun fact
• Age, gender, and date of birth (if provided)
• Preferred courts and other profile details

User Content & Activity

• Messages and communications (DMs, group/community chats, game chats)
• Posts, comments, and community activity
• Events you create or join (which may include location details)
• Games and match results
• Bookmarks and saved locations
• Photos you upload (profile, community photos, court photos)

B. Information We Collect Automatically

Device & Technical Data

• Platform (iOS/Android)
• A device identifier used for push notifications (where available)
• IP address (used for rate limiting/security; not used for advertising)

Usage

Basic app usage and operational data necessary to provide features (for example, messaging and matchmaking functionality)

C. Location Data

When you grant permission, we collect foreground location data (while you are using the App). We do not request background location permission.

We may collect and store:

• Precise latitude/longitude (your device GPS coordinates)
• Location associated with courts, events, games, and communities

3) How We Use Your Information

We use information to:

• Create and manage accounts and profiles
• Provide core app features (court discovery, matchmaking, games, communities)
• Enable messaging and communication between users
• Show relevant nearby players, courts, games, and events
• Send push notifications (messages, game updates, community invites, reminders)
• Maintain security, prevent fraud/abuse, and enforce rules
• Respond to support requests and troubleshoot issues
• Comply with legal obligations

4) What Other Users Can See

Deuce is a social app. Some of your information is visible to other users as part of the App's core functionality.

Depending on your usage and feature settings, other users may be able to see:

• Your profile details (name, photo, skill level, sports, availability, fun fact)
• Your participation in games/communities/events
• Your precise location coordinates (latitude/longitude) through player discovery and "nearby players" features

What we do not intend to display publicly: your email address.

If you want to limit location exposure, you can disable location permissions in your device settings (see Section 8). Note that disabling location may reduce or break nearby discovery features.

5) How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information.

We share information in the following ways:

A. With Other Users

To enable social features, we share certain profile and activity information (and, as described above, location data may be visible to other users through discovery features).

B. With Service Providers (Third Parties)

We use third-party vendors to run the App, including:

• Clerk (authentication/user management)
• Supabase (database and file storage)
• Stream Chat (real-time messaging)
• Google Places API (place search/autocomplete)
• Expo Push Notification Service (push delivery)

These providers process data on our behalf to provide their services.

C. For Legal, Safety, and Business Transfers

We may share information:

• To comply with law, legal process, or government requests
• To protect the rights, safety, and security of Deuce and users
• In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets (we will provide notice when required)

6) Public File Storage Notice

Photos may be stored using Supabase Storage in buckets configured as public (for example, profile pictures, community photos, and court photos). This generally means the image may be accessible to anyone with the direct URL.

7) Messaging and Communications

We use Stream Chat to provide direct messages and group/community messaging. Message content and chat metadata may be processed and stored by Stream as part of providing messaging functionality.

We do not provide end-to-end encrypted messaging.

8) Your Choices and Controls

You can:

• Access / update your profile information in the App
• Delete your account via Settings > Delete Account
• Disable location permissions in your device settings (this may limit nearby discovery)
• Disable push notifications in your device settings
• Block and report other users (where available in-app)

9) Account Deletion and What Happens to Your Data

When you delete your account, we perform a soft delete and anonymize certain information. For example:

• Your profile may be anonymized (e.g., "Deleted User") and your email replaced with a placeholder
• Some messages may be anonymized (e.g., replaced with "[Message from deleted user]")
• Some activity/history (such as match results) may be retained in anonymized form
• Certain data may be deleted (for example, bookmarks, push tokens, notifications, feedback, and other linked records)

We may also retain limited information as necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, dispute resolution, and backup integrity.

10) Data Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to:

• Provide the App
• Maintain records for safety/security and fraud prevention
• Comply with legal obligations

Retention periods may vary by data type (for example, message history may be retained differently than account settings). Where feasible, we delete or de-identify data when it is no longer needed.

11) Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no system can be guaranteed 100% secure.

12) Children's Privacy

Deuce is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.

13) International Users

Your information may be processed and stored in countries outside of where you live (for example, where our service providers operate). We take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards when required by law.

14) Legal Rights (Depending on Where You Live)

Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

• Request access to or deletion of personal information
• Correct inaccurate information
• Object to or restrict certain processing
• Receive a copy of your information (portability)
